Join us for a focused webinar, “Ethical Considerations in Diabetes Care: Integrative and Functional Nutrition Approaches.” This session examines how to apply integrative and functional nutrition within diabetes care while navigating evolving evidence and patient-centered decision-making.
We will address common ethical challenges, including conflicting evidence, scope of practice, overpromising outcomes, and the need for culturally competent, equitable care. Through a real-world case, participants will gain practical strategies for making transparent, evidence-informed decisions that prioritize patient safety and respect individual values.
Topics include allopathic vs alternative nutrition approaches, informed consent, autonomy, and collaborative care models. This session is designed for healthcare providers, dietitians, and diabetes care and education specialists seeking to strengthen ethical, patient-centered practice.
Learning Objectives:
- Analyze ethical principles(autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, justice) as they apply to integrative and functional nutrition approaches in diabetes care, including informed consent and patient-centered decision-making.
- Evaluate clinical challenges such as conflicting evidence, scope of practice, and risks of overpromising outcomes when incorporating integrative and functional nutrition strategies.
- Apply evidence-informed, culturally competent strategies to develop ethical, collaborative care plans that prioritize patient safety, respect individual values, and promote health equity in diabetes management.
1.0 CPE, including an ethics credit, is pending.
